Outreach

Members of the Club are active in taking their fossil displays out to the community.  Typical Outreach activities include libraries, schools, community centers, etc. as well as participating in various museum events such as Dino Egg Days at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, World Oceans' Day at the Discovery Place in Charlotte and the Norwood Arbor Day and Fossil Festival in Norwood.

Fossil Fairs

In addition to the Club's annual fossil fair held at museums across the state, members also attend, display and support fossil related activities at other museums. These include the annual NC Fossil Festival at the Aurora Fossil Museum, the Rankin Fossil Fair at the Rankin Museum of American Heritage, the Schiele Museum Fossil Fair at the Schiele Museum of Natural History, and the Dino Festival at the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Collecting Trips

Members of the Club have the ability to sign up for various fossil collecting trips throughout the year.  While space is limited based on a particular location, typical collecting locations include Greens Mill Run, Onslow Beach, Neuse River, Rocky Mount and the Tar River, and various other quarries as available.

Club Meetings

Club Meetings are typically held every other month.  Club meetings are open to visitors and prospective members and usually include a fossil related presentation and a short business meeting.  The November meeting is typically held in conjunction with the Club's annual Fossil Fair and is held at venues across the state.
