Holden Beach – Spring 2024

There have been two recent trips to Holden Beach, 3 members attended on March 8th and 8 members on April 28th. The March trip was pretty cool and rain threatened, but for those who came – this mostly Cretaceous, Pee Dee Formation (result of dredging) produces some neat stuff, including a small, complete ammonite, and a small piece of matrix with several chunks of a crab in it – as well as the typical sea urchins and shark teeth. The April trip was fun with several members new to the beach enjoying the rich bounty the descending tide had to offer. A nice mosasaur tooth and a bucket of sea urchins were just a few of the nice finds this trip.
