NC Fossil Fair 2023
The Club held it's 2023 Fossil fair in Hickory, NC. It was a fabulous success! The Catawba Science Center was so welcoming and kind to us, providing lots of additional volunteers, and a great space for displays including a large main room and multiple smaller classrooms to spread out. In addition, they provided donuts, lots of snacks, and arranged for lunch to be provided for all of us.
We also appreciated the participation of special guests from Smithsonian, Appalachian State, UNC Wilmington , The NC Museum of Natural Sciences, the Schiele Museum, and an Archaeologist from Exploring Joara Foundation. There were lots of attendees, and everyone had a great day. We finished the day with a delicious dinner at Fresh Chef restaurant, who also provided our lunches free of charge! A very special thank you goes to Darryl Grater for his many countless hours arranging the details between the NCFC and the Catawba Science Center, inviting our guests, and sending out many updates. He was certainly instrumental in making this event so terrific for us all.
